Virgin Gorda is 75 miles due east of Puerto Rico. The island is approximately 10 miles long with mountain peaks to the north and formations of granite boulders to the south. It is home to approximately
2500 residents and maintains a year round temperature of 75-88 degrees and has a moderate rainfall, low humidity and cool breezes. The currency used is the US Dollar.
This uncommercialized destination boasts of West Indian charisma and natural wonders. Gigantic boulders spilling out of the sea create grottos and swimming pools known as the renowned "Baths". Transportation:
Direct flights are available from San Juan, Puerto Rico (35 minutes) or St. Thomas, USVI (15 minutes) to Virgin Gorda. Once you are here, rental jeeps and taxi service is readily available on the island. Reservations are a must in order to guarantee a vehicle in peak season.
Beaches:
The beaches are pristine and indeed "Virgin" where secluded coves are still to be found. The snorkeling in the warm clear water is unsurpassed. In addition to swimming and snorkeling at your own special hideaway, you may also enjoy scuba diving, day sailing, wind surfing and deep sea fishing. A full service dive shop and yacht charter company are located at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, the hub of business and nightlife activities on the island.
